I have been roleplaying on and off for a little over sixteen years. This includes things like text-based writing such as Forums and Private Messages, writing over MMOs such as Final Fantasy 14 & Guild Wars 2 an even enjoying Table Top Roleplaying games such as Pathfinder, D&D & Lancer. and the trees started to burn.

For it was the year she ran into that Garlean and the year her daughter would be born; a child of a Duskwight mother… and the bastard that took her under the watchful eye of her Goddess. But it wasn’t her child’s fault, nor did she ever blame Zethina for what happened that night. If anything, she saw the bright-eyed child as a gift. One that was born beneath the glow of the full moon, her first cries echoing though the mist-laden trees of The East Shroud.It was her mother, Elviane, a gifted healer and midwife, who saw the omen in her daughter’s birth – with hair a silver as the pale moonlight and eyes, deep and blue as the sky before dawn. The only question that remained was the girl a blessing or a curse? It was under her mother’s care that the girl grew up learning the ways of herbalism, potion-making and healing, bleeding the natural remedies of the swamp with the arcane whispers of Gelmorrian magic.‘I remember when the red moon fell…’‘I remember when the tree started to burn.’

Even as a child, Zethina had always known that moon spoke to her. It’s silver glow guiding her magic like a quiet, celestial whisper. Maybe it was because of this that even as a child, she recalled when red moon fell, shattering like an egg… it’s embers setting the forest ablaze.An ill omen that soon repeated itself when the girl turned sixteen, when the silver moon itself turned red. Forewarning of the “Creeping Death” that slowly entered her small village.The fever that accompanied it swept thought the village in a matter of weeks, sparing none who lacked the strength to fight it. The villagers turned to Zethina’s mother, their trusted healer, but no roots nor herbs could sooth the Creeping Death. As bodies withered and hope slowly faded, as such… Zethina turned to the only thing she had left, her Gelmorrian magic. And so, under the blood-red moon, she performed a forbidden ritual meant to purge the fever from the village.It was in a clearing, where a shrine to Menphina has been established, she knelt under the crimson light of the blood moon, whispering incantations older than the swamp itself. Around her, the air crackled with power as she called upon the spirits of the land to take the sickness onto itself, to drain it from the dying. The spell working, but at terrible price.The fevered souls creamed as dark energy swirled, their blood boiling as the land itself took the sickness into itself. Tainting the lands around the village and the creatures that called it home.She still sees the red moon in her dreams, still hears the screams of those she tried to save. The trees that once cradled her now felt like a graveyard. Her magic forever stained that night with the blood of those she tried to save.

A title that is spoken in both fear and reverence. Where rumors said she could cure any ailment – for a price. While other’s claim the witch lures travelers into the bog only to steal their souls. With the truth being somewhere in between --Zethina would help those who sought her aid, but her patience was thin, and her magic was never given freely.Despite the fact Zethina freely travel throughout the Shroud and even goes into Gridania to shop and sell her wears, she seems to exists in a space between legend and reality. A woman whose presence is both feared and sought after. The swamp she calls home seems to bend to her will, making the paths grow darker and more treacherous the closer one comes to her home.But something is coming…Something stirs in the heart of the bog she calls home. A new sickness creeping though the land, one that even her magic cannot banish.
